ORacle 26ia comes on PREM

Finally the time has come, Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle 26 ai on Premisses for January 20, 2026. Now the wait is over.

What does this mean? First of all, the announced version 26ai is not a brand new release but the Oracle 23 ai that has already been available as a free edition or in the cloud for two years. At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, the company introduced a new numbering system in the form of “kernel”, “year”, “quarter”.

Version 23.26.1.0 (originally 23.10) will therefore be released on January 20, 2026. Initially for Linux, but certainly for other platforms shortly afterwards. If you want to migrate, you have to say goodbye to the NON-CDB, because Oracle 26ai only supports the Multitenant architecture.

There are also a number of useful and new functions. In addition to the Boolean data type, Vector Search of course leads the way.

If you would like to find out more about the AI functions 10. and February 11, ora2know is organizing a noon2noon in Hanover.
